  • 5.1 Dentistry and Third Parties

Third parties must not influence the primary relationship between the dentist and the patient in any way that diminishes a patient's right to achieve long term optimal oral health care.

  • 5.2 The Australian Schedule of Dental Services & Glossary

The Australian Schedule of Dental Services and Glossary is the definitive coding system of dental treatments and services in Australia and should reflect current dental practice.

  • 5.3 Practice Ownership

While the ADA recognises a trend toward corporate ownership of dental practices, this ownership model cannot be allowed to compromise a dentist's duty of care to a patient.

  • 5.4 Complaints Resolution

Patient complaints should first be resolved by conciliation but if this fails, then adjudication by peer review or statutory authorities is the next step; at all times, patient interests should take priority.
